ABOUT COET

Founded in 1983, COET has evolved from its original name, ASARET (South African Association of South African Registered Engineering Technicians. As a recognised Voluntary Association by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), COET is committed to serving the professional and educational needs of Engineering Practitioners across all disciplines.

The Chamber of Engineering Technology (COET) is a body representing Registered Engineering Practitioners in South Africa. It is an Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) recognised Voluntary Association. ECSA is the South African statutory body constituted in terms of the Engineering Professions Act 46 of 2000. COET is a multi-disciplinary, non-political, voluntary association not for gain. It monitors engineering standards and cares for the interests of its members wherever possible, while liaising with ECSA on all matters relating to Engineering Practitioners. COET was established to enhance the standing and contribution of the South African Engineering Profession in the national interest and for the benefit of society, and it has been active under previous names since 1984. COET is a member of The South African Forum for Engineering Practitioners (SAFE) and the National Science Technology Forum (NSTF). Membership is open to all engineering practitioners of all disciplines.
